Marcia Ferguson is a Barrymore-nominated actress and director living and working in Philadelphia. Her most recent appearance as an actor was in the role of Ann, opposite Amanda Schoonover, for the Spring 2019 Barrymore-recommended production of 12 Chairs (Juniper productions). She has acted in films and television ranging from experimental shorts to variety shows to situation comedies, and has acted on many area stages, including the Wilma Theatre, the Painted Bride Art Center, and Act II Playhouse. Professional regional directing credits include Women of Ireland for the Irish Heritage Theatre company, four different versions of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival hit Cocktail Plays (Juniper), The Eumenides at the Penn Museum, Ursula Invents Old Woman for the Edinburgh Fringe festival, a staged reading of Opus (with Michael Hollinger and the Daedalus String Quartet) at the Annenberg Center, The Arthur Ross Gallery’s Jealousy, Infidelity, and Transfiguration (with the Daedalus String Quartet and Group Motion modern dance company), a staged reading of The Inventor at the Drake, and, most recently, a reading of original poetry and drama in tandem with an art exhibition at the Esther Klein Gallery, “In Search of Meaning: Memory Becomes Us” (March, 2019). She co-created the original performance work Diving in Backwards, and has completed workshop training in multiple styles and approaches, including intensive study with Meredith Monk, certification with the London International School of Performing Arts, Commedia dell’arte with Antonio Fava, and workshops in original creation and treteau with Pig Iron theatre company and Headlong Dance Studio.
